Elizabeth LaPrelle

Last night we went to the Jefferson Center in Roanoke for a concert.

Out onto the bare stage walks a slight young lady, Elizabeth LaPrelle. Probably weights no more’n a hundred pounds, soaking wet. She just stands there, hands on her hips, belting out these gorgeous Appalachian Mountain ballads.

As MaryAlice and I sat on the back porch this morning before church, looking at the morning light through the spring oak and tulip leaves, we thought about how blessed we were to live in a place that has its own music.

Elizabeth is also a student at William & Mary (class of ’09). There’s more info at various places on the web, for example, at myspace. She was a part of the 2007 Crooked Mountain tour and there’s a page with video clip on that at KPBS. She has two albums out: Rain and Snow (2004) and Lizard in the Spring (2007).
