For several years I would go back and forth about whether to include Mathematics texts in my little library. While certainly needed for a well rounded education, mathematics is rather technical. I concluded that math was needed for general exercise; however, that it would be best to focus on a particular topic rather than some general survey.
I use that focus to justify including these three books into one of my 24 little library entries:
- Algebra, by Israel M. Gelfand - a sophisticated coverage of high school algebra
- Elements of Algebra, by John Stillwell - introduction to abstract algebra including Galois theory
- Algebraic Number Theory for Beginners, by John Stillwell
